Crystal Stokowski
Vice Chair

Crystal Stokowski

Crystal Stokowski is a mother, surfer, and autodidactic artist who primarily works with upcycled and found materials. She organizes a free Surf Film Night in her community highlighting local artists and films that respond to climate change and social injustices in mainstream surf
culture. Crystal volunteered with the Polynesian Voyaging Society in Hawaii restoring the double hulled voyaging canoe  Hokule'a  for its upcoming Mālama Honua Worldwide Voyage. In 2012-2013, she lived and worked closely with sustainable surfboard shaper Tom Wegener and
his family in Queensland, Australia. Crystal spent over a decade working, touring, and traveling the world with independent music artists Modest Mouse. Crystal also coordinates with DNREC and DSP on community beach clean ups at the popular surf break, Northside of Indian River Inlet, which has been devastated by rapid coastal erosion uncovering massive amounts of hazardous marine debris that is buried under the beach and dune system. Check out her short film about it 150 Tons. When Crystal isn’t on land caring for her gardens with her son and advocating for a better future for generations to come, you can find her in the surf all
year round and playing in the shallows with her family.
