Erodible Concrete

Erodible Concrete

Prevent the use of erodible concrete for hard armoring until when and if it is actually proven to degrade.

“Erodible Concrete”:  Does that sound like an oxymoron or what? Well it is one of the latest threats challenging our coast. An unproven technology, that is being proposed to armor our coast.  The chapter's stance is that the material should be proven to erode as it is expected to prior to installation. Calling it “erodible” does not make it erodible, and the chapter's successful litigation on the subject in 2003 supported that there is not enough information yet to prove that it will be “erodible.” We are monitoring applications and advocating for more studies.
