The Delaware Chapter, in partnership with Plastic Free Delaware and the Delaware State Parks, is launching the Hold On To Your Butt program this summer. The program will launch on Friday May 27, with print ads in local beach papers as well as distributing personal pocket ashtrays and information on cigarette waste to park visitors.

Cigarette butts are the number one item of trash collected during our chapter cleanups. Last year we collected over 8500 butts from Delaware beaches. To combat this issue the chapter will have pocket ashtrays available to park visitors during our numerous beach cleanups. Ashtrays will also be available at the Cape Henlopen State Park office, Indian River Inlet Life Saving Station office, and at Old Inlet Bait and Tackle located in the Delaware Seashore State Park.

See our program webpage located at this Hold On To Your Butt link for more information on cigarette waste.

The Surfrider Foundation Delaware Chapter Hold On To Your Butt program is a 2022 Temper of the Times Foundation Grant winner as well as a 2022 DNREC CEPF Grant winner.
