The annual paddle out honoring Davey Alison, a Bethany Beach surfer who passed away in 2016, took place on August 6 and Mango’s Restaurant and Bar hosted a party afterwards.
The event organizers Julia Alison, who represents the family, and Alex Ternahan from Breaker’s Surf Shop in Bethany Beach raise money in Davey Alison’s memory every year from the sale of Davey Day merchandise. All proceeds from the merchandise went to the Surfrider Foundation Delaware Chapter. Donations from previous Davey Day events helped build an outdoor shower facility at Herring Point in Cape Henlopen. The shower will be formally dedicated to Delaware surfers including Davey Alison and Grey Branson Baker this fall. The Delaware Chapter was proud to participate in this year's Davey Day.
