Call or Email to Limit Plastic Bag Use in DE

A bill in the DE legislature is closer than ever to passing that would put a fee on single-use bags given away at checkout counters in large retail stores. Help us make it law!

The 5 cent fee is similar to a local law in Washington DC which is working very well and has reduced bag use considerably. Help us get this bill out of committee.

Please call or email the Chair of the Natural Resources Committee Rep. Debra Heffernan at her office 302-577-8476 or home 302-762-3478, or email her at Debra.Heffernan@state.de.us

Also call the House Majority Leader Rep. Val Longhurst at 302-577-8476, or email her at  Valerie.Longhurst@state.de.us.

The 5 cent fee does not go to the government at all, it stays with the merchant and it does not cover "product" bags like bags one would put apples or bait in.  It only applies to checkout bags.
