About The Diamond State Classic

The Diamond State Surf Classic was created for the purpose of bringing together the Delaware Surf Community in a fun surf event, and in doing so to help spread awareness to the community of the Delaware Surfrider Chapter and the activism we engage in to protect our beaches and waves.

The format of creating random teams of 2 creates a fun, more casual surf contest, with less emphasis on the overall best surfer, and more focus on meeting new people and just enjoying an awesome beach day with your surf community.

In our previous events, we had a 2 month event window. While, this allowed us to score good surf, it was very challenging on planning and getting enough staff to organize the events. This year we picked the optimal tide weekend of September 7th or 8th. If bad weather strikes, we will have a backup weekend of September 21st or 22nd, which also has good tide times.
